Before you go:
Generic Equipment List – This is an equipment list I have developed originally for camping and hiking but have changed key parts of it to satisfy the touring cyclist. Of course every tour is different and should be treated that way; this means that some of the items can be omitted and other items added. Find what works for you. It’s always easier to ship some unneeded gear home than trying to make things workout with a lack of supplies.
Planning your tour – I have compiled 2 different ways of planning. Both are very useful for avoiding the stresses of turning your dream into reality. The quick planner can be used when preparing for a short, near home excursion, while the practical planner is very helpful in planning for your first (or more) long distance journey. Used in conjunction I feel will provide the most help.
Preparing for your tour – Preparing for your tour is a very similar topic to planning your tour; however, I view it more as mentally putting yourself at ease before you tour. This goes over basic questions the novice touring cyclist might have including gear, identification, and physical fitness levels.
On the road:
Stealth Camping – Stealth camping is a way of camping most travelers must do when traveling a long distance. It cuts down on cost and can save a traveler from being stuck on the road at night – a very dangerous situation in some countries.
