  1. WOW! Alaska touring is the next frontier. I have ridden Sierra Cascades between Mt. Hood and Auburn. The Oregon parts are fantastic. I didn’t enjoy the high traffic of Hwy 89 through Northern California though. Friends and I rode an east of the Sierras route through the Modoc plateau and into Quincy this summer — I highly recommend it! Let me know if you plan to go–happy to have you inherit my maps, chat, etc.

    • Touring in Alaska is awesome. I highly recommend it. I’ve done a lot of training rides outside of Fairbanks (my home town), and it’s always pretty exciting once you’re 50+ miles out.

Your tour sounds like it was pretty neat. I’ll be sure to contact you when I have the money to seriously plan the Sierra Cascades tour. Thanks for the comment!
